International house
The Global Friendship House, available for students in the Fall of 2012, will be a hub of activities for the 1700 International Students from over 100 countries that attend Old Dominion University. It will house 72 students in a warm and welcoming environment including a chef skilled in international cuisine. To help create a family feel, there will be live-in house parents to encourage, counsel, nurture and foster new relationships. There will be areas for study, entertainment and community building as well as meeting rooms and a café. This modern four-story building is conveniently located on 43rd Street, facing the ODU campus and across from the Ted Constance Center.
The GFH will be distinctly Christian in its operation, a place for people of all faiths to explore the message of Christianity. For many students, this is their first opportunity to read the Bible and ask questions about the Christian faith. GFH is designed to build relationships and give rise to meaningful conversations as people simply do life together.
When complete, this House will be financially self sustaining through the moderate rent paid by students.Contributions for the construction of this wonderful facility can be made through the Tab Church. If you would like more information on how you can be involved contact Kathy Hardison or Danya Horton. This project needs your involvement. Take this opportunity to reach the world, one student at a time.
